ERNEST ALFRED GEORGE BENNETT July 3, 1919 - January 31, 2009 Ernie Bennett, aged 89, passed away at the Victoria Hospital in Winnipeg, Saturday, January 31, 2009. Ernie was predeceased by his wife Nellie in 2005. He is also predeceased by his parents, four sisters and three brothers. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Bonnie Barnes (Bob), granddaughter Joanne (Chad) de Pencier, great-granddaughter Brooke, sister Hilda McLean, sister-in-law Faye Bennett, brother-in-law Alex Thomas and numerous nieces and nephews. Ernie and Nellie were raised in Kamsack, Saskatchewan where he began his career with the CNR transferring to the Symington Yards in 1962. Ernie spent many hours woodworking, gardening and caring for his apple trees. His favourite times were fishing, especially for greenbacks on the Red River. Cremation has taken place and Ernie will be laid to rest with his wife Nellie at a later date.
