Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryARLENE HEKL (nee MCEVOY) It is with great sadness that the family of Arlene announce her passing on Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at the Grace Hospital, following a lengthy illness. She will be sadly missed by her husband Robert; daughters, Kimmie Jo Hekl (Alain Dumonceaux) and Karen Mae Hekl (Gord Heckert); as well as her four-legged furry grandchildren, Dickey, Honey, Roxy and Shilo. She also leaves her brother Jack McEvoy and numerous nieces and nephews. Arlene was predeceased by her parents, Angus and Agnes McEvoy; her sisters, Pearl and Patty-Jo McEvoy; and brothers, Jim and Tom McEvoy. Arlene was an avid golfer and 10 pin bowler. She was a long standing member of Bel Acres Golf Course and was selected to represent Manitoba in the Canadian Seniors Open in British Columbia. Arlene was always quick to tell a joke, and on the golf course she was known as The Candy Lady , always ready to offer you a piece of candy. Her main role at Riverhouse was as a Residential Care Worker, where she touched many lives. Most people from Riverhouse knew her as Sarge . A celebration of Arlene's life will be held on Sunday, February 15, 2009 at 2:00 p.m in the Thomson In The Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. The family would like to thank Dr. Morag Fisher and Dr. Lezack for their care and compassion. Donations may be made in memory of Arlene to a charity of choice.
