NORENE KATHERINE WILLSON (LEIPERT) February 28, 1926 - February 7, 2009 Peacefully on Saturday, February 7, Norene passed away surrounded by her family. Norene was predeceased by her husband Lawerence; brother Donald; and sister-in-law Vera. She is survived by her brother Bill and sisters-in-law, Charlotte and Dee; sons, Ronald (Barbara) and Dale (Carol); grandchildren, Elizabeth, David (Nadia), Carie and Allison (Michel); and great-grandson Luc. Born in Burstall, SK, Norene later met and married Lawerence in Weyburn, SK, where they also made their home. Norene was a proud member of the Order of the Eastern Star, achieving the standing of life member and Worthy Matron. In 1964, Norene and her family moved to Winnipeg, where she dedicated her life to raising her sons. Throughout her life, Norene was an active member of the Presbyterian Church, serving as elder, women's and regional representative and Sunday School teacher at Westwood Presbyterian. She also volunteered with Flora House and Annishinabe Mission. An advocate of women in the ministry, Norene established a scholarship for women at Knox College in Toronto. A celebration of Norene's life will take place Thursday, February 12 in the Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB.
