SERAFINA CANTAFIO (nee SHERBO) November 3, 1921 - February 10, 2009 Peacefully and surrounded by her loving family, our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Sera passed away on Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at Riverview Health Centre. Mom is survived by her loving husband, Joseph; children, Linda (Joe), Rosemarie (Tony), Gloria (Mark) and Josie (Dean); grandchildren, Tony, Pam, James, Greg, Cathy, Jody, Jared, Michael, Sarah and Christopher, 13 great-grandchildren; and her twin sister Virginia. Also surviving are her in-laws, Kay and Dave, Rose, Eva and Kay. Mom was born in Amato, Italy on November 3, 1921. At the age of nine her family immigrated to Canada. Mom and Dad were married on July 12, 1941 and were blessed with four daughters. Mom's primary focus was always her family and her role as a traditional homemaker, devoted wife, dedicated mother and adoring grandmother and great-grandmother. Over the years we all benefited from Mom's various talents such as sewing, knitting, cooking and baking. Mom was a gentle, loving soul who accepted whatever life dealt her without complaint. We will always love you and keep you in our hearts. Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Friday, February 13 at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Rosary Parish Church, 510 River Avenue with Father Sam Argenziano presiding. Entombment will be at Waverley Memorial Gardens, 1501 Waverley, followed by a reception at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard. Pallbearers will be her six grandsons, Tony, James, Greg, Jared, Michael and Christopher. Honourary pallbearers will be her four granddaughters, Pam, Cathy, Jody and Sarah. The family wishes to extend special thanks to all the staff of 2 West for their compassionate and loving care given to our Mom for the last three and one half years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to 2 West, Riverview Health Centre, 1 Morley Avenue E., Winnipeg, MB R3L 2P4. MOM You can only have one mother, Loving kind and true, No other friend in all the world, Will be so true to you, For all her love and kindness, She asked nothing in return, If all the world deserted us, To our mother we could turn, For those of you who have a mother, Treasure her with care, For you will never know her value, til you see she's not there, To hear her voice, To see her smile, To sit and talk with her for awhile, To be together in the same old way, Would be our dearest wish today. Beautiful Wife, Beautiful Mother, Beautiful Lady THOMSON IN THE PARK 925-1120 Send expressions of sympathy to www.mem.com
