LORNE BETHUNE April 23, 1933 - February 12, 2009 It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our dear father, grandfather and friend on February 12, 2009. Lorne leaves to mourn his daughter Susan (Jamie), son Brian (Heather) and two grandchildren Zachary and Madison that he dearly loved. He also leaves sister Bertha Smith, sister-in-law Rose Bethune and their families; special niece Sandra Worley (Brandon) and her family that Lorne held close to his heart, and numerous relatives and special friends. Lorne was predeceased by his wife Lil of 33 years in 1998, his parents, sister Jean Bain, and brothers Bob and Jack Bethune. Lorne worked in the printing trade for many years before starting with Winnipeg Transit in 1973 where he made many life long friends before retiring in 1994. Lorne then in his retirement travelled awhile before becoming a weekend bartender at the LaVerendrye Club where he was an avid bowler for many years. The family would like to thank the Donwood Manor staff for making Dad feel welcome and safe in his home, and for keeping him out of trouble with the ladies. He made many new friends-thank you! Memorial service will be held Thursday, February 19, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at Klassen Funeral Home. Donations can be made to Canadian Diabetes or to Heart and Stroke Foundation.
