IDA MARIE MONKMAN Peacefully, after a lengthy illness, it is with deep regret that we announce the death of our mother, grandmother, great-granny on February 10, 2009 at the age of 87 years. Born in Vogar, Manitoba, later part of her life lived in Winnipeg. Ida's favorite pastime was knitting, bingo and loved to listen to old time fiddling music and dancing. Predeceased by her husband Sam; four sisters, Emma, Louise, Delia, Runa and a brother Bill. Ida is survived by her brother Frank Desjarlais (Roseanne) and her children, Leonard (Elsie), Dave (Evelyn), Victor (Linda), Linda (Allan), Norma (Barry), Betty (Blair), Clifford, Donald, Gordon (Kate), Doug, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Special thanks to Dr. Goldberg for all the time and care and also to the Homecare staff (especially Theresa). Memorial services will be held on Tuesday February 17, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. from Aboriginal Funeral Chapel, 724 Selkirk Avenue at Parr street. Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • When my mother Lorraine (Aunt Ida's sister) passed in 2002, I did the obituary for her. It was so hard to do, and I did the unthinkable, and it has bothered me to this day. That thing I did was I missed Aunt Ida. I didn't put her in as mom's sister. I have apologized, and prayed to GOD for fogiveness for this. GOD BLESS. - Posted by: Steven Kallstrom (Nephew) on: Sep 29, 2023
