PHILIP CHARTRAND With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our father, brother and friend Philip on February 16, 2009 surrounded by family at the Health Sciences Center at the age of 74 years. Philip was born to Octave and Gilda Chartrand on January 31, 1935. Survived by his daughter Cheryl (Robert); grandson Shane (Brandy), great-grandchildren, Lyndsey and Ryleigh. Also by sisters, Laurette (Adrian) Allard, Lorraine Lavallee, Dorothy Boudreau, Barbara (Wilmer) Chaboyer; and by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his wife Clea in 2003; his mother Gilda in 1973; his father Octave in 1991; his sister Simeone in 1953. Philip married Clea on November 21, 1959. He worked as a truck driver then worked for CP Rail and later as a commercial fisherman. After retiring, Philip enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing pool, playing cards with friends, watching wrestling, playing bingo and horseshoe tournaments all over Manitoba. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather always making time for his family. According to Philip's wishes, cremation has taken place. Prayers will be said on Friday, February 20 at 8:30 p.m. at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Stonewall. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 21 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Laurent Roman Catholic Church. Following the service, friends and family are invited to attend a luncheon at the St. Laurent Rec Centre. Flowers gratefully declined. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba. I Said a Prayer for You Today I said a prayer for you today And know God must have heard, I felt the answer in my heart Although He spoke not a word. I didn't ask for wealth or fame I knew you wouldn't mind, I asked for priceless treasures rare Of a more lasting kind. I prayed that He'd be near you At the start of each new day, To grant you health and blessings fair And friends to share your way. I asked for happiness for you In all things great and small, But that you'd know His loving care I prayed for most of all. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements.
