Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY MANNESS September 2, 1919 - February 15, 2009 Peacefully on February 15, 2009, at the age of 89, Mary Manness passed away at Stonewall District Hospital surrounded by her family. Predeceased by her husband Gordon and brothers Gerhard and Harry. Mom will be lovingly remembered by her children Stuart (Eileen) and Mark (Susan); her grandchildren Mary-Ann (Nik), Patrick (Angela), Carolyn, Stanley (Nicole), and Terry (Liane); her great grandchildren Austin, Owen, Lucas and Jonah; her brothers Arvid and Vic (Jay); her sisters Wilma and Vera (Peter) and her many nieces and nephews. Mary was born in the Ukraine to parents Fredrick and Natalie. She moved to Canada in 1927 with her family and settled south of Winnipeg, later moving with her parents into Winnipeg, where she finished her education and started work as a bookkeeper for Montreal Trust. Mary married Gordon in 1949 and they lived together happily for almost 50 years until his death in 1999. Mary was an avid gardener and loved her gladiolas. She was always knitting or crocheting for family and friends. Mary was a member of the Argyle and Stonewall United Church, enjoying the ladies group and the fall suppers. The Funeral service will be held Saturday, February 21 at 11:00 a.m. at the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, 433 Main Street, Stonewall, Manitoba. Prayers will be held on Friday, February 20 at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3L 0K6.
