Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFRANKLIN E. ARNOLD It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather and brother Frank on February 16, 2009 at St. Boniface General Hospital. Remaining to forever cherish Frank's (Dad's) memory is his loving wife Helen; sons, Fred (Jo-Anne), Gary (Shelly); grandchildren, Jeff, Brent, Jeannie and Robbie; brother Jerry (Verna); as well as his extended family, Ralph Ramkissoon (Lucy and children, Reece, Rianne). Dad had a special spot for Mom's six sisters and family in Atlantic Canada, Peggy, Lena (Robert), Dody (Jim), Frankie (Gordon), Eileen and Betty. Dad was born August 18, 1921 in Yorkton, SK. He received his education in Hazelridge, MB and upon graduation enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force. While stationed in Chatham, NB, before serving three years overseas, Dad met Mom, his wife of 62 years. Upon discharge and returning from England, he immediately set out to build his family's future. Farming, establishing a trucking business and all the while raising and loving a family. Dad's determination to succeed at all costs was a trademark to the end. He showed this determination with his brother Jerry in business, with friends, whether they were pilots, golfers, lake neighbours or the church. His hard work and success earned him the friendship and respect of many business associates. Living in Oakbank over 60 years, he had many long lasting friendships. He actively served the Oakbank United Church as a member and elder until his passing. Dad had many interests over the years, building family homes and a cottage at Lake of the Woods, flying, restoring classic cars and trucks, family vacations (travelling), golfing and his yard and garden. Special thanks to the nursing staff at 6A at St. Boniface General Hospital for their special care and comfort care during Dad's time in the hospital. The family would also like to thank Dr. Kevin Coates for all of his care. A special thanks to the Oakbank United Church for their dedication, caring and assistance. Funeral service will be held at the Oakbank United Church, Saturday, February 21 at 2:00 p.m. led by Reverend Dawn Ballantine - Dickson. In lieu of flowers, in memory of Dad, donations may be made to the Oakbank United Church, 582 Balsam Crescent, Oakbank, MB or a charity of one's choice. Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
