Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryERNEST MAXWELL FLIGHT VE4FE After a two-year battle with cancer, Ern passed away peacefully at Riverview Health Centre on February 19, 2009. Ern was born in Pouch Cove Newfoundland, November 6, 1927. Upon leaving school, he joined the Newfoundland Ranger Force, leaving that after three years to join the Naval Air Branch of the Navy. Most of his service years were spent in Shearwater, Nova Scotia. Ern retired from the military service in 1976 in Winnipeg and took over the business of the Winnipeg Garden Centre from his father-in-law, retiring from that in 1988. He and his wife Dorothy moved to Comox, BC where they resided for 14 years before returning to Winnipeg. Ern was an active member of the Winnipeg Seniors Amateur Radio Club. Ern was predeceased by his parents Ernest and Elsie (Noseworthy) Flight and sister Phyllis (Max) Pennell. He is survived by wife Dorothy, son William (Sheila), daughter Maxine (Will) Slota, sons Jim, Tom (Jennifer), David (Patricia), and George (Wendy), grandchildren Robert (Sarah), Danial (Sarah), Benjamin, Christopher, Phillip, Ian, Ryan and Kathryn, niece, nephews and cousins and their extended families. At his request, no funeral service will be held, but a reception celebrating his life is to be held at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street on February 24, 2009 between 7:00 and 9:30 p.m. His ashes will be scattered in Pouch Cove Newfoundland at a later date. No flowers by request. Those wishing to make donations may do so to Hospice and Palliative Care Manitoba or CancerCare Manitoba. The family would like to extend thanks to Drs.
