SIMONE TAYLOR (nee LARAMEE) November 21, 1925 - February 17, 2009 Simone Taylor died peacefully on February 17th at Riverview Health Centre following a lengthy illness. She was born November 21, 1925, one of 13 children of Edmond and Louise Laramee (nee Lachance). She married John A. Taylor in 1946 and moved from St. Boniface to St. James. Together they raised six children, all of whom survive her: Nancy (George; Trista and husband Steve, and Calum), Kathy, Victor (Debby; Susie and Ian), Amy (Harvey; Matthew and Daniel), Faye (Gary; Sam and wife Hilori, Ava) and Celeste (daughter Christine). She will be mourned by her surviving brothers and sisters and their families: Maurice Laramee, Alice Backman, Ella Bousquet, Jean Taylor, Terry Novak (Alex), Noella Cancade, Joe Laramee (Rose), and Leo Laramee (Marguerite). In-laws, Simone Laramee and Gail Martin also mourn her. She was predeceased by her brothers, Paul and Andre; sisters, Irene Dame and Laurie Kalinsky; granddaughter Caroline and great-granddaughter Tabitha. Her children and Home Care helped her live in her home as long as possible until she suffered a stroke in November 2006. After that she lived on unit 2C at Riverview Health Centre. The family is very grateful to the staff for the compassion, consideration and care they gave her. She was a busy stay-at-home Mom most of her life, but she also worked part time at various jobs including the jewelry department at the Bay downtown, various waitress jobs, and behind the candy counter at the Convention Center Cinema. She had an indomitable and adventurous spirit. She loved to travel and one of the highlights of her life was a trip she took with her husband to Australia in her early 50s. She traveled there again later, this time by herself. She also visited Hawaii and Las Vegas. She was creative and artistic. In her spare time she enjoyed painting, writing, reading, Alfred Hitchcock movies, and various crafts including making cloth dolls. At her request, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held in the Chapel at Riverview Health Centre on Saturday, February 28 starting at 11:00 a.m. Flowers are gratefully declined, but you may wish to make a donation to Riverview Health Centre, One Morley Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3L 2P4, or to your favourite charity in memory of Simone. Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • My deepest sympathies to Simone's family. My father Paul Laramee who is the brother of Simone passed away a few months ago. I know how hard it is to lose a loved one but know that she is reunited in heaven with her other family members. Her spirit will always be with you like my fathers is with me. - Posted by: Lynn Laramee (Family) on: Feb 25, 2009
