Date of Passing: Feb 24, 2009
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGORDON WILLIAM GARBUTT Gordon William Garbutt passed away peacefully on February 24, 2009 at the age of 79. Gordon has now joined his wife and soulmate, Norma Jane Garbutt who predeceased him in August 2008. Those who will cherish his memory are his sons, Bruce (Tracey) and Rob (Beth); daughter Jill (Daryl); grandchildren, Eric, Ian, Johanna, Maegen, Andrew, Erin and Kristen; and his nieces, Shirley and Audrey. Gordon met his wife Norma while members at the Kelvin Grads which later became the Musical Comedy Guild. His love of music was a lifelong passion which he shared with others to enjoy right up until just weeks prior to his passing. Gordon and Norma loved their cottage at Victoria Beach - a gathering place for their children, grandchildren and friends. Many wonderful family times were spent together with his wife and children sailing, golfing, bike riding, walking and playing cards. Much of their retirement years were enjoyed in the Rio Grande Valley in Texas every winter. Gordon and Norma loved to travel and they were fortunate to have experienced some wonderful vacations together over the years. We would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the Grace Hospital, as well as the staff and friends at the Portsmouth Retirement Residence for their care and compassion towards Gordon. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Parkinson Society of Manitoba, 302-171 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 1M4 or a charity of your choice. In keeping with Gordon's request, cremation has already taken place. There will be a private family service in memory and celebration of his life.
