Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPAUL ANDRUSHKO Following a month long hospital stay, Dad passed away at the Vita Hospital, Vita, MB, February 24, 2009 at the age of 89. He will be lovingly remembered by his children: Nick (Gertie) Andrushko, Joe (Judy) Andrushko, Bernice (Gordon) Larratt, Paul (Pat) Andrushko, Alex (Betty) Andrushko, 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, one sister Mary Piwtorak and sisters-in-law Doris and Phyllis, stepchildren: Alvin (Marie) Runke, John (Aileen) Runke, David (Dale) Runke and their families. Paul was predeceased by his first wife Elena (1975) and second wife Lena (2007) and by two brothers Peter and Walter. Dad was born in Wolkowce, Ukraine, August 9, 1919 and emigrated to Canada with his parents, older brother Peter and younger sister Mary on June 23, 1929 aboard the S.S. Montcalm docking in Quebec. They ended up settling in Vita, MB. Dad ventured into Winnipeg in his early adult life and often told stories of how he enjoyed his years working on Goberts' dairy farm in St. Vital. In 1947 he married Elena Skrumeda and together they farmed and raised their five children north of Vita. In later years Dad spent many winters travelling back and forth to work at the Sugar Beet factory in Winnipeg. After Mom's passing, Dad eventually sold the farm, lived in Stuartburn for a short time and in 1984 moved to Shady Oak Lodge in Vita. It was there that he met Lena Runke and they were married in 1986. Dad and Lena spent many enjoyable hours together watching sports on television. After Lena's passing two years ago, Dad began to develop health problems often landing him in the hospital where he got to know many of the nurses quite well! He thought of many of them as friends. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and aides at the Vita Hospital for all of the care and compassion shown to Dad in his final days and for all of your care and patience in his past stays. We all know what a character he could be! Also a big thank you to Eva for always being there for Dad when he needed you. We will all remember Dad for his quick wit and for how he loved to talk and share his opinions...we will miss him dearly. A funeral service will be held Friday, February 27, 2009 at Vita Funeral Homes Vita Chapel Vita, Manitoba at 1:30 p.m., with Pastor Mark Funk officiating. Interment will take place at the Caliento Cemetery. Rest in Peace Dad VITA FUNERAL HOMES VITA CHAPEL VITA, MANITOBA IN CARE OF ARRANGEMENTS PHONE 1-204-425-3114
