MAX COHEN March 6, 1923 - December 2, 2008 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Max Cohen, at the Victoria Hospital in Winnipeg, at the age of 85. He was predeceased by his wife Marj, his parents Louis and Ethel Cohen and brother Art. He leaves to treasure his memory his two daughters, Marsha Share (Ridley Thompson) of Winnipeg and Neta Bourlas (Y'air) of California. Also surviving Max are his grandchildren, Lee Stacy Inglin (Darren), Joshua Share (Erin) and great-granddaughter Maya Share, and Yarden Bourlas, Tamir Bourlas, many family members as well as close friend Allan Isabelle. Dad was born and raised in an early Jewish colony in Lipton, Sask. and worked in the family business, L.D. Cohen Sons. In the Second World War he served overseas in the Royal Canadian Army. He married Marjorie Segal upon his return home to Lipton, where their two daughters were born. When Max moved his family to Regina, he established Bargain King, the family business. Later Marj and Max moved to Winnipeg to be with their children, and, following their passion for antiques, opened the Antique Loft. They resided in Winnipeg for a number of years. After mom passed away he returned to his roots and moved to Fort Qu'Appelle, Sask. In the last few years, unable to continue managing living on his own, Dad relocated back to Winnipeg to be with his family and resided at the Sharon Home. Dad had a wacky sense of humour and always referred to himself as a comedian, a trouble maker and a boy scout. And indeed he was all of the above. Dad embodied all that is good, all that is right, and all that is possible and will be eternally missed but will never be forgotten. With his passing comes the end of an era - that generation of parents who are all gone now, closing a memorable and wonderful legacy in our family's history. Dad, we will miss the smiles and kindness you brought into the world. This is not a goodbye because we will always remember you in our hearts and in this way you will always be with us...we love you and miss you Dad... Rabbi L. Lander officiated on Friday, December 5, 2008 at the Chesed Shel Emes Chapel followed by interment at the Hebrew Sick Cemetery. Sam Singer together with other Second World War Vets honoured Dad with a special Last Post tribute to his memory. The family would like to especially thank certain staff at the Sharon Home and the Victoria Hospital for their compassionate care and to many family and friends for their generous support and thoughtfulness during this difficult time.
