MINNIE MARIE POMARENSKI It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Minnie on Thursday, February 26, 2009 at the age of 81 years. She was predeceased by her husband Tony on September 8, 1988 and is survived by her loving daughters, Shirley Johnson (Gerald), Sharon Thordarson (Doug), and Theresa Johnson (Laugi); grandchildren Jeffrey Johnson (Joanne) and their children Madison and Aiden; Shannon Ireland (Chris) and their children Joshua and Ceanna, Corey Thordarson (Megan Specula) and their children Johannah and Arika; Erin and Matthew Roberts, Devon Johnson (Brittney) and Quinton Johnson (Tracey). Also surviving are her sisters-in-law, Peggy Wesley, Anne Pomarenski and Jean Pomarenski, and many nieces and nephews. Mom was a very caring, giving and compassionate person who gave us unconditional love. Mom's greatest joys were gardening, cooking, sewing, crocheting, cross stitching and being the most wonderful Baba to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mom was born June 26, 1927 and spent her early years in Fraserwood where she met and married Tony at a very young age. They spent 45 wonderful years in their home in Fraserwood where they raised their three daughters. After Dad passed away she moved to Gimli and spent the next 20 years in her lovely apartment making new friends in the community and became very involved in her church. A celebration of Mom's life will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2009 in the Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church, 5th St. N. Gimli, MB, with Father Chuckry officiating. Viewing will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and the service will be at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow the service at the Fraserwood Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Vichnaya Pamyat Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli in care of arrangements.
