WALTRAUT (TRAUTE) LUISE SCHREINER (nee Schneider) Peacefully, at home, on Friday, February 27, 2009, surrounded by her Schatzi's, Mom passed away. Mom is survived by her loving daughters, Cornelia (Jerry), Sonja (Ben), Anita (Dennis), son Roby (April), grandchildren Chris (Celina), Kyle, Samantha, Drew, Hillary, Sydney, Randy, Selena, Brody, great-grandchildren Bailey and Rhyley and relatives in Europe. She was predeceased by the love of her life Rudy, mother Charlotte, father Hans and son Peter. Mom was born an only child in Freiwaldau, Germany on November 24, 1936. On November 7, 1958 she married her husband of over 40 years and in 1960 they moved to Canada with their son Roby. After settling the family in Winnipeg, Mom began working for her soon to be lifelong friend Mrs. Frances Bowles. Later she worked in Dr. Heinisch's medical office. In 1980 Mom began working with Helen Giesbrecht in the Grunthal Post Office and another lifelong friendship began. They retired together on March 31, 2000. In 1977 Mom and Dad moved to their little piece of heaven on earth near Grunthal, MB. Shortly thereafter they started their collection of farmyard friends which at the time of her passing included sheep, donkeys, horses, chickens, geese, a peacock and three cats. Mom loved travelling with her family and especially enjoyed the many road trips to the mountains in Banff and Glacier Park. Her many others interests included a love for classical music, the opera, plants and reading. Mom had many good friends in both Canada and Europe and her kind gestures and thoughtfulness will be missed by all those that knew her. Our Mom was very thankful for the kind and compassionate care she received from Dr. Daeninck and Tracy at Cancer Care as well as Dr. Ridah and Dr. Silha. The family would also like to thank the staff at Island Lakes Pharmacy for their support. In accordance with her wishes Mom has been cremated. Her final resting place will be with Dad in the Chapel he built on the farm. A memorial service to honour and celebrate her life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, March 6 at Holy Family Parish, 778 Archibald Street with Father Ronald Leger officiating. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made in her memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or Winnipeg Humane Society. Mom had tremendous fortitude and strength and had the ability to think positively in difficult situations. Her beautiful smile radiated such warmth and gentleness to all those who received it. Her children were the most important thing in her life and it gives us great comfort to have been by her side when she passed away. Mom, Life has been so wonderful because of all you've done, and of all the gifts you've given, Love has been the greatest one. Forever in our hearts Your Schatzi's Gott Sei Mit Dir

  • Katharina and Traudy thank you for signing the guest book. If you would like to keep in touch please forward your info in this box that says Tribute or Life Story* :) - Posted by: Cornelia (Daughter) on: Sep 11, 2013

  • I just wanted to express my condolences. My grandma Elis Pradel (born Grünert) who lived in Sandhübel, too, must have been Friend to your mom Traute. Your mom also wrote a Letter to my uncle Peter & his wife Elke in 1967. I just found this letter in between stamps my granny had collected and wanted to see if her friend could be found on the Internet. Many greetings from Southern Germany Katharina - Posted by: Katharina Pradel (None) on: Jun 18, 2013

  • I would like to express my heart felt condolences to Cornelia and all other family members of Traute Schreiner. I will miss our short acquaintance through telephone calls and letters. Both of us came to Canada from Sandhubel in the Czech Rebublic and we shared some great memories. Traute will be sadly missed. - Posted by: Traudy (Drescher) Patychuk (Acquaintance) on: Mar 04, 2009
