PHILLIP MAUTHE February 1, 1924 - February 27, 2009 It is with great sadness the family announces the peaceful passing of Phillip Mauthe on February 27 at the Concordia Hospital, at the age of 85. He leaves, to be lovingly remembered by: his dedicated wife Irene, and sons Mervin (Donna), Darryl (Mary Jean), and Grant (Belle). He will also be missed by his five grandchildren who were very special to him (Erin, Julie, Robyn, Amanda, and Thomas). He has two surviving sisters (Minnie and Elizabeth) and a sister-in-law (Margaret). He also leaves in memory many nieces, aunts, cousins, and friends, who all meant so much to him in his good life. His memory will never leave us. He was predeceased by his parents, brothers John, Bill, George, sister Emma, and brothers-in-law Reinhold Single and Fred Dilk. Phillip was born in Waldersee in 1924. He went on to be known as a hard worker, as well as a talented craftsman, fixing everything in the community. Eventually he found his match with his lifelong mate Irene, and they married in 1951. From there they moved to Winnipeg to start a new life. In Winnipeg Phillip did everything, from building houses, repairs, and doing renovations, which is what led him to Shore Glass. Here, he was eventually promoted to production manager, where he remained until his retirement. He was a hard and diligent worker, and contributed greatly to the company's success. He was a talented carpenter as well as designer, creating many of the catalogues for the company. He also invented many unique and innovative products for them. Phil had opportunities to move and have better positions, but he always wanted to be near his family. They were his priority. Most of all, Phil was a family person, who thought the most of his children, his wife, and his grandchildren. His free time was usually spent helping his family in some way. He loved music, enjoyed holiday time with his wife Irene, and sharing time with his family. He was a generous and kind person with a wonderful sense of humour, who loved life and was always giving more than receiving. He taught all of us a lot about how to be a good husband, father, grandfather, and a good person. His faith and spiritual beliefs were also an important part of his life. We will always remember him with great admiration and affection in our hearts. A Memorial Service will be held to celebrate Phillip's life on Monday, March 9, 1:00 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 211 Kimberley Ave. Many thanks to Dr. Doermer, and all Phillip's health care workers, as well as the staff at Concordia Hospital. In lieu of flowers, if friends wish, donations can be made to the Grace Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 211 Kimberley Ave., Winnipeg, R2K 0X3, or the Kidney Foundation of Manitoba, 2370 Taylor Ave., Wpg. R3M 2K8. Arrangements entrusted to: KLASSEN FUNERAL HOME 1897 Henderson Hwy. 338-0331 Send expressions of sympathy at www.mem.com.
