PARDEEP (PETER) ABBI It is with deep regret and sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Pardeep (affectionately Peter) Abbi on March 1, 2009. Peter is survived by his wife, Ritu Abbi; daughter Sara; son Sameer; brother Satish Abbi; sister-in-law Bindu Abbi; sister Aruna Chopra and brother-in-law Ashok Chopra; sister Suman Handa and Shashi Bhushan Handa; and his mother Pushpa Abbi, as well as his nieces and nephews. Peter immigrated to Winnipeg on November 5, 1979. A man dedicated to his children and family, Peter was the successful owner and proprietor of Main Meats groceteria for 25 years. A loving husband, father and brother, Peter embodied the virtues of a good family man always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone regardless of their socioeconomic background, he never passed judgment on anyone that came to seek advice. When not at Main Meats, he enjoyed spending time with his family and close friends. He was notorious for BBQing, golfing and his smile that brought life into every room. Peter will be greatly missed by his family and close friends and by all those who knew him in the Main Street Community. Funeral service will be held Thursday, March 5 at 2:00 p.m. in Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. Prayers will follow at the Hindu Temple, 999 St. Anne's Rd. at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Peter Abbi to Siloam Mission, 300 Princess Street.
