JOSEPH WILLIAM KOHUT Peacefully on Monday March 3, 2009, Joseph William Kohut passed away at the Portage General Hospital. He was born December 20, 1928 in Portage la Prairie of parents Anastasia (Hryhorchuk) and William Kohut. He is mourned by his wife Mary of Portage la Prairie, and five children and their families: David (Dr Donna Taylor), Christopher (Sharon) Kohut, Stacey (Wayne) Loeppky, Laura Kohut and Maggie (Jack) Cronk. As well as members of the Cook (Hryorchuk) family, Gwozd family and Cussack (Kuzyk) family. Joseph was a grandfather to 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Besides his parents and parents-in-law (William and Mary Gwozd) and his granddaughter Julia, he is predeceased by four half siblings: John, Mike, Matt (Hryhorchuk) Cook and Mary Cussack (Kuzyk). Panakhyda prayers, led by Rev. Deacon Michael Strilec, will take place on Friday March 6, at the Ukrainian Catholic Church of Assumption at 7:00 pm. (no wheelchair access). Funeral Liturgy will be at Good Shepherd Church on Saturday, March 7 at 10:00 am with Celebrant Rev. Father Michael Tkachuk. Burial to follow at Hillside Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined.
