Date of Passing: Feb 28, 2009
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHILDA DAVIDSON (nee NENDICK) Hilda Davidson passed away at the Poseidon Care Home on Saturday, February 28, 2009, at the age of 98 years. Hilda was predeceased by her husband Lloyd in 1979 and her brother Jack Nendick in 1998. She will be lovingly remembered by her two sons, Joel (Louise) and John (Wanda); one daughter Rosalie (Bill) Fulford; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Hilda was born near Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan in 1910. She came to Winnipeg with her mother and brother to meet her father off the troop trains returning from the First World War. The family lived in the Lake Francis area until the Depression hit. They eventually moved to Winnipeg where Hilda finished her education and then worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Bannerman until she married Lloyd Davidson in 1933. Her life revolved around her husband and family. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed trying out new recipes on her family. A gifted oil painter, potter and a creative knitter, she created many beautiful Icelandic sweaters. She enjoyed her garden at home and the lake cottage was a special place to her. An enthusiastic blueberry picker, she enjoyed walking the hills with her dog. Also an avid reader, Hilda had a great memory for details and past events. She loved to sing in the care home and knew all the words to the old favourite songs. Hilda worked for many years at the Hudson Bay store in Winnipeg and was a life-long member of the Canadian Daughters' League. Hilda loved her family and lived a full life making the most of the many years she was given. The family extends a special thank you to the staff at the Poseidon Care Home for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, should friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. As per Hilda's wishes cremation has taken place and a memorial service celebrating her life will be held at a later date. The Coutu family in care of arrangements: E.J. COUTU CO.
