KATHERINE AILEEN BARRIE On March 2, 2009 at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, Kathy Barrie, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and daughter, passed away at the young age of 47 years with her family at her side. Besides her husband, Mike Schnerch, she is survived by daughter Jennifer Barrie; son Kyle Schnerch; grandchildren, Erika and Kaden. She also leaves to mourn her passing her grandmother Helen Kroeker; mother Carol Barrie, father-in-law Stanley Schnerch; sister Tannis Martens (John); brother Michael Barrie (Marlene); sisters-in-law, Vicky Szeredi (Les), Frances Watt (Kevin), MaryAnne Mattes (Gord), Laura Giesbrecht (Craig), and Cindy Makowski (Daryl); brother-in-law Rob Schnerch (Liane), and numerous relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her nanny Kathleen Barrie; father Grant Barrie; mother-in-law Rose Schnerch, and uncle Ken Kroeker. Kathy was born in Winnipeg on September 2, 1961 and lived most of her life in Transcona. She attended high school at Murdoch MacKay. In 1980, Kathy gave birth to Jennifer who brought her great joy. She met Mike in 1991 and they became engaged shortly thereafter. In 1993, Kathy's little man Kyle was born. Kathy was blessed with two grandchildren, Erika born in 2002, and Kaden who was born in 2004. Kathy worked many part-time jobs including the Bank of Nova Scotia, and the Eastwinds Liquor Store. She had been working at the Winnipeg Tax Centre for close to 30 years. Most recently, she was a team leader in the Individual Returns Division. Kathy loved her job and took great pride in everything she did. She had many close friends and colleagues at the Tax Centre who we know will miss her dearly. Kathy did not have many hobbies, rather she chose to dedicate all of her free time to her children and grandchildren. She was an awesome mom to Jennifer and Kyle and loved having grandkids Erika and Kaden at her house. She especially enjoyed spending weekends at the cottage in Sandy Hook with family and friends. Kathy was looking forward to seeing Jennifer graduate from university this spring and always talked about how proud she was of Jennifer for pursuing a higher education. Kathy will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her, especially Mike, Jennifer, Kyle, Erika, and Kaden. We hope you knew how much we loved you, unfortunately we didn't have the opportunity to say goodbye and tell you how much you meant to all of us. We love you so much and will always keep you in our thoughts. We would like to thank all the staff at the Health Sciences Centre, Surgical Intensive Care Unit who took such good care of Kathy and her family through a most difficult time. A celebration of Kathy's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. in Winnipeg.
