NORMA ALEXANDRA MALCO (nee Landeras) On March 6, 2009, our beloved wife, mother, sister and grandmother passed away peacefully with her family at her side. Left to cherish her wonderful memory are her loving husband of 32 years, Troady; her son Julius (Heather) and grandchildren Cameron, Claire and Carter of Saint John, NB; sister Bing (Robert) Van Kampen and nieces Julie and Shelley from Guelph, ON; brothers Herming (Tacing - deceased) and Manuel (Yoly - deceased) Laderas, nieces Gina, Virgie, Rufina, Lynette, Dinah and nephew Leandro of the Philippines, as well as many grandnieces and grandnephews. Norma was born in Boac, Philippines on February 27, 1946, the youngest daughter of Juliana and Timothy Laderas (both deceased). Norma was an elementary school teacher in the Philippines. She then immigrated to Winnipeg in 1974. She worked for the Department of Industry and Tourism. Norma then earned her Bachelors degree in Education from the University of Winnipeg and worked as a teacher for 20 years at O.V. Jewitt Elementary School. She also taught Catechism at St. Anthony of Padua (W.K.). She will always be remembered for how loving and compassionate she was to everyone around her. Throughout her entire life she always maintained a positive attitude. Norma was a caring and dedicated teacher who was loved by all her students. Norma enjoyed cooking and gardening. Her greatest enjoyment was being with her family, especially her grandchildren whom she dearly loved. She was a kind, loving and good person. Norma will be truly missed and always remembered. Thank you to her many friends who supported her at home and the hospital and to all the staff from the Health Sciences Centre and St. Boniface Palliative Care Unit. A very special thank you to her niece Dinah for her dedicated care. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 10th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua, (West Kildonan) - 250 Burrin Avenue. Service to be officiated by Fr. Henryk Laciak. In lieu of flowers a donation in Norma's name may be made to The Canadian Cancer Society (Manitoba Branch), 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB, R3C 2B7.
