MARGARET ROSE SULLIVAN (nee BURELLE) Peacefully, in the Victoria Hospital, in the wee small hours of March 7, 2009, Margaret Sullivan passed away, her family at her side. Her struggle with cancer had been long and hard fought to the end. She will be sorely missed by her husband, Neil Sullivan, son Dean (Patti), daughter Vivian Sullivan (Iain Day) and by her grandchildren Shannon Sullivan and Cole Sullivan. She leaves to mourn as well, her brother Paul Burelle (Mary) of Neepawa, her sister Marie Mallabar of London, Ontario, sister-in-law Kay Burelle of Roblin, and many nieces and nephews. Margaret was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Orise Burelle, brothers Ernest, Louis, George and her sisters Annette Jeannotte and Vivien Tucker. Margaret was born on December 19, 1924, in Meadow Portage, Manitoba. She entered the nursing profession at an early age, employed in Ste. Rose, Brandon and Winnipeg in private duty and institutional settings. While engaged in this, she pursued and closed gaps in her early education with dogged determination, and entered the Misericordia School of Nursing, graduating as an R.N. in 1975. She worked with the Winnipeg Municipal Hospitals for many years, retiring in 1989. Despite being employed full time and undertaking her educational pursuits, she was able to maintain a household for her husband, and successfully raised two energetic children. Following her retirement she enjoyed volunteering, vegetable and flower gardening (especially her beloved delphiniums), sewing, and other homemaking interests. She was an extremely caring person, curing the many cut fingers, scraped knees and bruised egos that came her way with a smile, a sympathetic ear and never failing cheerfulness. She played her many roles with true dedication - daughter, wife, mother, sister and aunt, and oh, how she will be missed. Prayers will be said on Wednesday, March 11 at 8:00 p.m. at St. Vital Roman Catholic Parish Church, 1629 Pembina Hwy. at Manahan with Reverend Dr. Patrick Morand the Celebrant. Mass will be held on Thursday, March 12 at 10:30 a.m. also at the Church. Interment will follow in Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Avenue. Flowers are gratefully declined. Friends are invited to make a donation in memory of Margaret to a charity of one's choice. THOMSON IN THE PARK 925-1120 Send expressions of sympathy to www.mem.com
