CONSTANCE MABEL HOLLAND (HALL) December 9, 1912 March 6, 2009 Connie Holland passed away peacefully on March 6, 2009, at Calvary Place Personal Care Home at the age of 96. She was predeceased by her husband Cecil in 1971, and by all of her siblings. Connie will be lovingly remembered and cherished by her son James Holland (Charlotte); and daughter Elaine Jackson (Bruce); her grandchildren, James C. Holland (Adriana), Charles Holland (Mika), AnnKatherine Green (Steve), Amy Holland, Kyle Jackson and Alycia HoGlin (Travis); and five great-grandchildren. Connie was born in Neepawa, MB and graduated from high school there. She met her husband Cecil in Clear Lake and moved to Transcona. She lived in Winnipeg for over 50 years. While in Transcona, Connie was an active member of the local bridge club and served for many years on the Altar Guild of St. Georges Anglican Church. In her latter years, she became a member of St. Aidan's Anglican Church and joined the Seniors' Bible Study group there. Connie's artistic gift manifested itself in beautiful paintings and crafts, fine needlepoint pictures, crocheting and knitting and vibrant gardens. Connie enjoyed travelling with family and friends. She visited China, Japan, Korea, Hawaii, San Diego and England. At 78 Connie purchased the house next door to her son. She lived there until she moved into Calvary Place Personal Care Home at age 89 where she lived until her passing. There, she made new friends of other residents and staff alike. Connie's greatest delights were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Two of Connie's most admirable qualities were her perseverance and hope for the future. Although she experienced deteriorating health over many years, she always believed that life would get better. She experienced much pain from her condition of advanced arthritis and osteoporosis, but she persevered, not allowing her health to influence her cheerful, friendly disposition. We wish to thank the nurses, health care aids and pastoral staff of Calvary Place for their exceptionally compassionate care and support. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Calvary Place. A small funeral service will be held at Calvary Place Personal Care Home, 1325 Erin Street, on Wednesday, March 11, 2009, 10:30 a.m. Transcona Funeral Chapel 1800 Day St., Winnipeg, MB 222-6677

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Just found out today that Aunt Connie had passed. Please know that she was always so good to me and was so well thought of by my Dad, her brother Jack. Although my thoughts and prayers are late they are no less sincere. Would love to hear from any of my cousins. Sandra - Posted by: Sandra Hall Dempsey (Niece) on: Jan 19, 2013
