Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHENRY WALSH REID March 10, 1916 - March 7, 2009 Surrounded by his family, Harry passed away at Third Crossing Manor, Gladstone on Saturday, March 7, 2009 three days short of his 93rd birthday. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 59 years Lois; his five children Gail of Edmonton, Brian (Trish) of Carman, Cheryl (Vince Warden) of Winnipeg, Rob (Brenda) of Winnipeg and Gwen (Gary) Single of MacGregor; 5 grandchildren Justin (Catherine) Reid, Tara (Curtis) Tchir, Tyler and Kaleigh Warden, and Christopher Single; two great- grandchildren Kieran and Soren Reid. Harry is also survived by sisters Florence Gilbert of Okotoks, Alberta, Laura (Orville) Dahl of Viceroy, Saskatchewan, Frances (Lloyd) Pyper of Winnipeg and Ethel Townsend of Winnipeg; sisters-in-law Leona Reid of Gladstone and Shirley Reid of Winnipeg; brother-in-law Arne Dahl of Souris; as well as many nieces and nephews. Harry was predeceased by his parents; brothers Ken, Jack and Frank; sister Ada Dahl; brothers-in-law Russell Gilbert and Charlie Townsend. Harry was born in Viceroy, Saskatchewan on March 10, 1916, the second eldest of nine children. In 1937 the family moved to Manitoba. Harry served in the Royal Canadian Air Force as an Airframe Mechanic from 1941 to 1945. On June 25, 1949 he married Lois (Moffat) and for many years they farmed south west of Gladstone. Curling, bowling and golf were favourite pastimes and his family is indebted to his buddies that enabled him to keep active in these sports up until a few years ago. Dedicated to his family, he enjoyed spending time with the grandchildren. Golfing with his grandsons were special times. Harry was a member of Legion #110, Life Member of the Curling Club and an active Charter Member of the Elks. The family is grateful to the staff at Third Crossing Manor for his care over the past 3 and a half years. A Celebration of Harry's life will be held Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the Gladstone United Church with Rev. Ian Olive officiating. Interment will follow in the Gladstone Cemetery.
