Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKEITH (KIT) LEE ROY LINKLATER March 10, 1941 - March 5, 2009 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden but peaceful passing of our Dad and Papa on March 5, 2009 while on vacation in Mazatlan, Mexico. Left to mourn his passing are his daughters, Laurie (Arto), Pam (Peter); and his grandchildren, Chris, Jeff, and PJ Seekings, Taylor and Cole Popoff, and Jeff Kujanen, all of Selkirk MB. Keith is survived by his brothers, Les (Gloria), Dale and Ian; his sisters, Darlene (George), Lois and Donna (Ray); his brother-in-law Metro (Pat); sisters-in-law, Violet (Gino), Irene and Carol. Keith also leaves numerous nieces and nephews. Keith was predeceased by his wife Vicki; his parents, Blanche and Tom; his mother and father-in-law, Mary and Nick Stefanishin; brother-in-law Herb Penner and brother-in-law Fred Goss. Dad was born on March 10, 1941 in Selkirk, Manitoba. He grew up on the family farm in Cloverdale where he learned the value of hard work and love of family. After school Keith pursued a career in Psychiatric Nursing in Selkirk where he graduated with a diploma as an RPN in 1960. He then went to work for 33 years with Correction Canada at Stony Mountain Penitentiary until his retirement. While in training at Selkirk Mental Hospital, Keith met the love of his life, Vicki. They were married on July 7, 1962 and settled in Selkirk to start their lives together. Mom and Dad enjoyed spending many hours with friends and family. They enjoyed the outdoors whether it was in their backyard or on a fishing trip to many of their favourite campgrounds, as well their winter trips down south. After Mom's passing, Dad retired in 1995. Dad spent his winters in Mazatlan where he made many good friends from all over the world which he looked forward to seeing every year. Although he enjoyed his time away in Mexico he also cherished the time he spent here at home especially with his grandchildren. Papa was always there for support and encouragement for his grandchildren, day or night. They knew they could always count on Papa no matter what the situation. They will miss him dearly as will his entire family and all those who knew him. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of our Dad's life will take place on Friday, March 13 at 2:00 p.m. at Selkirk United Church, 202 McLean Ave. in Selkirk with Rev. Deborah Vitt officiating. A private family interment will take place at a later date. We are so deeply saddened by the passing of our father but know in our hearts that our parents are finally together once again. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
