DANA LYNN SORFLEET 1971 - 2009 Dana died in her sleep, with loved ones near her bedside at Tache Nursing Centre, Saturday 7 March 2009, of complications arising from the effects of long-term multiple sclerosis. Born 13 October 1971 in Chicoutimi QC to Leona Frances (Nicholls) and Captain James Arthur Sorfleet, Dana lived in Bagotville QC, Moose Jaw SK, RAF Leeming (Yorkshire), and Winnipeg. Before diagnosis with rapid onset MS at 15, Dana especially enjoyed horseback riding, skiing, and travel; later she focussed more on sunbathing and the companionship of dogs, cats and many friends. She graduated from West Kildonan Collegiate in June 1990, and celebrated adult baptism together with her beloved great-uncle Jack Warburton at Portage Alliance Church 12 August 1990. Dana's courage and character impressed everyone who knew her, and a prominent feature of her life was the number of friendships she engendered. As her closest friend Guy Aquin says, Dana was a special person who could light up a room with that incredible smile and distinctive laugh that was sure to grab everyone's attention. Dana was very close to her father Jim (d. 7 April 1987) and her great-uncle Jack (d. 26 Feb 2009). She believed that her loved ones would be waiting to greet her after death, and many of us remarked on God's careful timing of Jack's passing the week earlier. Dana will be missed by her loving mother Leona, sister Katie, grandmother Evelyn, uncles Bob and Ken, aunt Marj, Hope, cousins Winston, Christopher, and Patrick, plus many other relatives, friends, and caregivers from Tache N.C. Among them Guy and Cheryl were special blessings. Thanks to all those who supported Dana with their messages, thoughts, prayers, actions, caregiving and friendship over the years. A public memorial service will be held at 2 pm Sunday 15 March, at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 Des Meurons, St. Boniface. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations to the MS Society Society of Canada. Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolences at www.desjardins-funeral.ca DESJARDINS 233-4949 1-888-233-4949
