Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCAROLINE PIRAGIS October 16, 1919 - March 9, 2009 Peacefully, Aunty Carol passed away at St. Joseph's Nursing Home. Born in Iwanowka, Poland, she came to Canada with her parents and siblings in 1928. Aunty Carol was predeceased by her husband Gasper, two infant boys, her parents William and Maria Magis, brother Mike Mages and wife Tillie, brother-in-law John Decka, nephew Billie Mages and niece-in-law Marlene Mages. Aunty Carol is survived by her sister Anne Decka; nieces and nephews, Chris (Al) Care, Brian (Paulette) Decka, Tommy Mages, Gary (Terry) Mages, Debra (Donnie) Procopchuk, Darrin (Anita) Mages, Laurie Mages, along with 11 great-nephews, nieces and 11 great-great-nephews and nieces. Aunty Carol married Gasper at the tender age of 17, and moved to Bienfait, Saskatchewan returning to Winnipeg in 1968. Aunty Carol became a full-time babysitter, caring for both young and old. She shared her caring and peaceful nature with all she met. Aunty always gave a helping hand to all and prepared / shared many a simple, gourmet meal with family and friends. Aunty was a green thumb hobbyist and loved to crochet. In 2002, she moved to Amber Meadows Retirement Home, where she enjoyed and participated in many activities, earning a Miss Congeniality Award from staff and residents. In 2006, after a stroke, Aunty moved to St. Joseph's until her passing. Again, she shared her caring and peaceful ways with residents and staff, enjoying many activities. The family would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to the staff of St. Joseph's Nursing Home, for the care and kindness shown to our Aunt. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street with interment and reception to follow. Glen Eden Funeral Home 338-7111
