WALTER DANIEL BRENNAN August 11, 1935 - March 10, 2009 It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Walter Daniel Brennan, on March 10, 2009 following a brief illness. Walter is survived by his loving wife Doris of 52 years, his sons: Steven (Marilyn), Kevin (Sherril) and Craig (Serena); his grandchildren: Michael, Matthew, Amy and Lucas; his in-laws Marion Cooper, Carol Halligan, Don (Karen) Halligan, Ernie (Judy) Halligan, Gary (Debra) Halligan, and special cousins Rick (Lynne) Waugh, Ron (Claire) Waugh, Donna (John) Becker and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Walter was predeceased by his parents Frederick Brennan and Margaret (Madge) Brennan-Ely, as well as his stepfather William Ely; his in-laws Joseph and Kathleen (Kay) Halligan; and his brother-in-laws George Halligan and Gary Cooper. Walter was born on August 11, 1935 in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. He moved to Winnipeg as a young child and resided in St. James; graduating from St. James Collegiate. Following graduation, he worked for United Grain Growers and Genser's Furniture, prior to joining Sears Canada; where over a span of 29 years he held numerous managerial positions and retired in 1993 as store manager (Kildonan Place). In his retirement he was a co-founder of the Sears Retirees Club of Manitoba and served as the Manitoba representative to the National Sears Retirees Group. During his lifetime, Walter enjoyed many travels abroad with family and friends. He particularly treasured his experiences in lake country, especially at his cottage on Lee River; where he spent many happy years.
