Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySHIRLEY SMITH (nee BURNETT) August 13th, 1942 - March 10th, 2009 It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts the family announces the passing of Shirley Smith, of Lockport, MB, on March 10th, 2009, at the age of 66. Shirley went in peace with her family by her side at the Grace Hospital. She will be sadly missed and always remembered by the love of her life, James, of 49 wonderful years. She also leaves her four beautiful children, Kim Smith, Tammy Fawcett (Tim), Liz Smith (Dwight) and Jamie Smith (Crystal). Her memory will also be cherished by 16 grandchildren, Michael, Candace, Tamara, Madisson, Sarah, Scott, Bobbie, Reily, Shania, Cole, Skylar, Emma, Julien, Ashton, Denzell and Dauntay, and one beautiful new born great-granddaughter, Cassidy. Shirley is also survived by her mother Elsie; brothers and sisters, Garry, Bonnie, Barry and Fay. She was predeceased by her father Ernest Burnett and sister Shirron. Shirley was born and raised in Manitoba. When she met James it was love at first sight. Shirley spent the rest of her life with her soulmate. As a family they spent a lot of time camping and once in a while they would get the opportunity to travel by themselves and those were always special times for Shirley and James. Besides time well spent with the family; Shirley also enjoyed gardening and especially her bingo nights. It gave Shirley great pleasure the last few years to have all her family together for the holidays, these are days she will hold in her heart forever. A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 16th, 2009 in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk, MB, at 2:00 p.m. A luncheon will follow the service in the Royal Canadian Legion basement hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3A 1P6. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
