IAN MICHAEL GEORGE It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ian Michael George, age 51, on Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at the Pinawa Hospital. Ian was born and raised in Ottawa. He moved to Pinawa in 1981 when he joined Atomic Energy of Canada Limited. Ian made many valuable contributions to research and laboratory operations in various programs. Over the next 28 years, his life revolved around his children, work, and friends. With his ready wit and friendly character, he livened up every day. Ian quietly pursued his hobbies and many volunteer activities. He will be greatly missed by all. Ian was predeceased by his parents Leonard and Brenda George of Nepean, Ontario. Remaining to cherish his memory are his children, Alyse and Tyler; his brother Peter and family from Calgary, and his many friends. We would like to thank Dr. Wiebe, and the staff at Health Science Centre and Cancer Care Manitoba for their help and compassion. We would also like to give a special thank you to all the staff at the Pinawa hospital for helping Ian and the family during his final days. Cremation has taken place and, at Ian's request, a Celebration of his Life is being planned. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
