MARGARET CHRISTINE WHITE (nee EVANS) On March 3, 2009, Margaret White passed away in the Poseidon Care Centre at the age of 95 years. Margaret is survived by her children: Judith (Bryan), Kathy (Barry), Doug (Kim), Jim (Susan) and Barbara (Jeff); as well as grandchildren: Melinda (Otto), Michael (Janna), Margot, Matthew (Carol), and Murray (Sue) Park; Kelly (Dave) and Joel (Michelle) Irwin; Jill (Cam) Saltel; Patrick and Julie White; and Martin, Rachael, Hannah and Simon Kess. Surviving her also are 13 wonderful great-grandchildren; her brother Jack Evans; sisters, Shirley Arnold and Audrey Wilford; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Lillian and Stanley Evans; her husband Bob; sisters, Lillian Sill and Phyllis King; and brother George Evans. Mom had an active and very full life. She was raised in a large, loving family in St Vital. She taught school for many years. She achieved a Degree in Pedagogy at age 60, travelled extensively to many parts of the world, was active in politics and sat on numerous committees dealing with education, libraries and anything else she found interesting. She loved her time spent at Clearwater Bay, Ontario beginning in 1953. She amazed us all when she fulfilled a life-long dream and published a book about her family in 2003. The family wishes to thank the Home Care Aides who gave our mother such compassionate care, especially Chandra, Katrina and Joan. Thanks also to the Poseidon Care Centre staff that was so kind and caring to Mom in her last days. We will all remember a poem or an adage for almost any occasion, courtesy of our Mother. One of her favourites: The Clock of Life The clock of life is wound but once, And no man has the power To tell just when the hands will stop At late or early hour. To lose one's wealth is sad indeed, To lose one's health is more, To lose one's soul is such a loss That no man can restore. The present only is our own, So live, love, toil with a will, Place no faith in Tomorrow , For the Clock may then be still. Robert H. Smith Thanks Mom. We love you. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of our mother may be made to the Manitoba Division of the Multiple Sclerosis Society, 100 - 1465 Buffalo Place, Winnipeg, MB R3T 1L8 or to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3. A celebration of life will be held on the first day of spring, March 20, 2009, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald Street.
