Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPATRICIA WINIFRED SEWELL November 8, 1922 - March 10, 2009 Pat passed away peacefully with her family at her side. She was predeceased by her parents Fred Van Alstyne in 1965 and Edwina Van Alstyne in 1979, her husband E.N.A. (Ted) Sewell in 1980 and her only sister Joyce McLellan in 1996. Pat will be sadly missed by her children Greg, Tim, Jordan, Janet, Brent, Dan and Ryan, their respective spouses; her eighteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; her loving companion Henry; her brothers Cliff and Fred Van Alstyne; and many other close friends and relatives. Pat was born and raised in Winnipeg, MB where she graduated from Gordon Bell High School, worked at the Grain Exchange, and then met and married Ted Sewell in 1950. Over the course of the next 24 years, Pat and her family moved nine times from one end of the country to the other, as a result of her husband's career with Canadian Pacific Railway. All these moves were successful because of Mom's support, devotion, and commitment to her family. She was completely devoted to her husband and seven children and was tirelessly loving and nurturing to us all. She lost her battle with cancer after a valiant effort over the last three years. She will be sadly missed by all of those who were blessed by knowing her. Pat's interests included her passion for hockey, along with driving her little red convertible , sewing and quilting. She was previously an active member of the C.P. Rail Pensioner's Association, a past season- ticket holder of the South Surrey Eagles, a passionate Canucks fan, and enjoyed watching her sons and grandchildren play hockey. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 14th at 3:00 p.m. at Sunnyside United Church, 15639-24th Ave, South Surrey, BC. Mom's wishes were that she be cremated. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Terry Fox Foundation in her memory. Thanks for always being there for us Mom. You were the cornerstone of our family. Rest in peace Mom, we all love you.
