CECIL HOWARD MCLEOD (Aged 71 years young) A celebration of Howard's life will take place March 22, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street, Winnipeg. Born on March 9th, 1938, he insists his party continue without him present. Terribly comfortable in his sleep at home in desperate need of relief Howard joined his wife, Harriet Elizabeth lovingly known as Betty, for short, for the remainder of their journey on March 11, 2009. Being stubborn can be traits both bad and good, persistence paid off, Howard called on Betty then finally convinced Betty to marry him, June 29th, 1963. A wonderful life of being husband to Betty was lived. A bond so strong was formed more than words could describe but broke on January 24th, 1984, when Betty was lost. Howard gave her everything including a son she could never have. Over time and many scared lonely nights apart Betty called on Howard to join her. Finally their prayers were answered. Howard a very special man well worth the wait and the fight it took to get him, being so stubborn he always kept her waiting. Howard was also predeceased by parents, Walter and Esther and step-mom Audrey and all aunties and uncles alike. He leaves to mourn brothers and sisters: Gilmour (Patsy), Frances (Kenny), Jeanette (Cecil), Donna, Lindsay (Sandra), Larry (Sonya), and Doug. All cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws ... and a few outlaws. Howard will also be missed by his many cherished friends many of whom were as close as family, most of all, he will always be loved and remembered by his son, Emery Miles McLeod. He filled the hole in Emery's heart with a lifetime of love. He was a strong willed man with a strength to match, always there to make a corner square. It never mattered the time or place, Howard was always there for you to lend a helping hand, to let what was in his heart out. He loved to dance and playing the fiddle for anyone who would listen, and tapped out many a pair of cowboy boots at the Old Plywood Palace to the beat of old time music. Howard's passions were too many to tell, building cars was but one. Getting around town to experience life whether by car, bike, or foot all held his mold and wore out before he wanted. Howard made sure of one thing, everyone was happy. Around him the suffering life dished out, never matched the value life had to offer. The best part is just starting, we can all be happy for you, a more deserving soul totally worth it we can't remember. I'll think of you when the spring breeze blows on a clear calm summer night when the stars all shine bright, mother nature grows, the sound of a cool autumns rain, when a diamond glints in the snow from the bright sun light, when the sun sets just right, I'll think of you when I'm feeling sad, you're my best friend, my mentor, my life, my dad, your spirit lives on in everything beautiful the world has but doesn't realize until it's too late. This much I know, the world is a colder place without you. I cared and was proudest of you, to have known, loved, and be raised by your special spirit. Glen Eden Funeral Home 338-7111
