DARYL WESLEY BRANDON Peacefully on March 9, 2009 at Grace Hospice in Winnipeg, after a truly inspirational battle with cancer, Daryl passed away and is now in God's loving hands and reunited with his parents Wes and Bessie Brandon. These are Daryl's words and thoughts One story ends and a new journey and last chapter begins.. I am a hole in a flute that Christ's breath moves through. Listen to the music (Sufi master Hafiz a new earth). Some of my favorite readings and sayings are from the Gospel of Thomas. I invite you to read his Gospel. I was born on September 1, 1946 in Hamiota, MB, and grew up in Rivers, MB. I was fortunate to have been raised in a small town full of sports activities. My most fond memories were playing baseball on the prairies on a home made diamond, pick-up games every summer day and walking, running, and playing with my dog in the gravel pits east of town. After high school I made my way to Winnipeg and spent 40 years in the construction industry as a HVAC designer. I am thankful for my loving wife Candice Lawson; my son Kurtis Peterson (Jennifer); stepdaughters, Robin Ethier (Derek), Melanie Vanstone (Thomas Lang); grandchildren, Hannah and Nate Ethier; my siblings, Myrna Paquette (Yvon), Larnold (JoAnn), Allen (Sharon); my Lawson brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. The last five years, and especially since I was diagnosed with cancer had reawakened the spiritual journey within and I am thankful for the teachings and directions of Jesus Christ. I also enjoyed being a member of the Kirkfield Park United Church. I am thankful for the too few years with Candice and having the opportunity to travel to China, Europe, NZ, Australia, Mexico and the Caribbean. Candice and I wish to give thanks and gratitude to SMS Engineering, our friends and relatives for their support and kindness, the care giving teams and volunteers at Cancer Care, WRHA and Hospice Palliative Care, Riverview, and Grace Hospice, as well as the hometown friends who have kept in touch and have offered words of support, visits, and prayers throughout my cancer journey. Thanks for the good times and memories friends. Daryl's gift as an artist was reborn during his battle with cancer and he spent many hours painting away in his studio. Daryl will be remembered as a very special, kind, gentle man, and a natural sportsman, especially with his love of baseball. We all will miss him. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on March 19, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Kirkfield Park United Church, 472 Kirkfield St. Donations in Daryl's name to Cancer Care Manitoba or the Grace Hospice would be most gratefully accepted.
