Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDONALD WARRENCHUK November 20, 1941 - March 4, 2009 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father. Don passed away suddenly after a lengthy battle with diabetes, which he bore with strength and courage until the end. Don will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by Margie, his wife of 42 years, daughter Laura and son-in-law Darrell. He also leaves behind a sister June (Bud) and many other relatives. Don was predeceased by his parents and infant sister. Don worked hard and led an interesting life and was full of stories and laughter. He began working as a barber and owned his own shop for many years. After the barbershop, he became a contractor and owned a ceramic tile business. During the past 38 years, Don enjoyed owning many rental properties. He was a jack of all trades and could fix anything he set his mind to. Throughout his life, Don enjoyed collecting antiques and owned a few vintage cars. Don and Margie built a cottage at Hillside Beach and enjoyed many summers there. Don and Margie loved to travel. Don especially loved going to Las Vegas during the winter months. In the last several years Don kept a cheerful disposition even though he suffered from the many complications of diabetes, which limited his work and travel. He often snuggled with his cat Smokey who took care of him when he was ill; hopefully they are now reunited. The family would like to thank the relatives and friends who were supportive of Don during these last years, especially Gary and Ken. The family would also like to thank many people in the heath care field who were special to Don: Dr. Verrelli, Dr. Ronald, Dr. Henry, Dr. Olivier and Dr. Smith; nurses on the PD and Infectious Disease Units; as well as other nurses who cared for Don at the St. Boniface Hospital. A special thank you goes to home care nurse Barb, as well as Karen (Dialysis Coordinator) and home care workers Rosa and Richelle. In keeping with Don's wishes cremation has taken place and a private celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 200-310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3C0S6.
