JENNIE PASIEKA (nee Holoboff) It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Jennie Pasieka at the St. Boniface Hospital on Thursday March 12, 2009 at the age of 87. Her parents were part of the 7,400 Doukabor pacifists who emigrated from Russia into British Columbia and then settled in Verigin, Saskatchewan in 1899. Jennie was born in Verigin, Saskatchewan on July 4, 1921. She grew up and was educated in Kamsack, Saskatchewan. She later moved to Winnipeg, in 1952 she met and married Michael Pasieka. Throughout the years she gave of herself to caringly and lovingly raise her family. She worked as waitress, seamstress, office cleaner who later dedicated her life to raising and nurturing her family. She had a green thumb and enjoyed working in the garden and around the home. She will always be remembered and sadly missed. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Shirley (Guy), Stanley, Jim (Gwen) and George, grandchildren William and Julia. Jennie was predeceased by her husband Michael as well as brothers and sisters Mary, Pete, Florence, Linda, Bill and George. The family would like to thank the Doctors and staff at St. Boniface Hospital, Riverview Centre and Victoria General Hospital for their care. Funeral service will be Wednesday, March 18 at 2:00 p.m. in Thomson In the Park Funeral Home. A celebration of her life will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard.
