CHRIS REICHERT March 1, 1916 - March 14, 2009 Peacefully, with his family at his side, Chris Reichert passed away at the age of 93 years on Saturday, March 14, 2009 at Gimli Community Health Centre. Predeceased by his son James; sons-in-law, Larry and Louis; parents, Mathias and Elizabeth; brothers, Joe, Tony, Adam, Jackie, Martin and John; sisters, Margaret, Katie, Carrie, Mary, Ann and Carrie from the old country. Chris is survived by his beloved wife Rose, of 61 years, and sister Lil Panteluk. His children, Betty (Hart), Rosalie (Jack), Ron (Debra); grandchildren, Darci, Denise (Kevin), Larry (Leah-Anne), Andrew (Jennifer), David (Colleen), Vicki; great-grandchildren, Courtney, Carter, Alyssa, Ciera, Cooper, Isabelle, Seth and Charlotte. Left to cherish his memories are several nephews, nieces, cousins and loving friends. Chris was born and raised on the family homestead in Berlo, Manitoba and took over the farm in 1946. He worked as a custom thresher and that's how he met Rose and they were married in 1947. He was not afraid of hard work and during his lifetime he worked many long hours on the farm as well as odd jobs away from home to provide for his family. Chris retired from farming in 1980 spending his time on the family farm where he enjoyed riding his John Deere lawnmower. He enjoyed playing cards, aggravation and a good game of Hola with family and friends. Chris was a caring, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Chris was proud to have all his family and friends celebrate the family's 100th year Homestead in July, 2005. The family would like to thank all the staff at the Gimli Community Health Centre, Home Care, friends and neighbours for their support during Dad's illness. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Peter and Paul Berlo Cemetery, Box 3506, RR# 1, Gimli, MB ROC 1B1. Prayers will be said Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 7:30 p.m., in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Gimli. Funeral Mass will be held Friday, March 20 at 11:00 a.m., in the St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church, Gimli. Interment will take place at the St. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Berlo, MB. Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli in care of arrangements.
