JOSEPH ROBERT (BOB) GUERETTE August 18, 1953 - March 16, 2009 After a brief illness, which he fought to the very end, Robert, with wife Tannis at his side, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2009 at the Concordia Hospital at the age of 55. He will be missed beyond words by the love of his life, Tannis; sons, Joseph (girlfriend Danielle) and James (Cindy) and grandchildren, Cody, Julien and Stephan. Also left, to mourn his passing are brother Paul (Jo-Anne) Guerette; sisters, Kathleen (Don) Morrison and Colleen (Gary) Salminen; as well as adopted brothers, Andre Guerette and Tim (Doreen) Guerette. Many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins will also mourn his loss. His friends, both old and new will miss his sparkling wit and joking ways. Robert was predeceased by his father Julien and mother Louise. Robert lived an interesting life, being part of the armed forces as a young man and doing long haul trucking before an accident offered him the opportunity to return to school to receive his diploma in Computer Programming. Robert spent the rest of his working career at the WCB of Manitoba as a Database Analyst. Robert also became very involved with the Afghan Hound Club of Canada, serving on its executive, as well as taking on the daunting position of doing Afghan Hound Rescue, which was a cause very dear to his heart. His beloved afghan hounds, Georgia, Xena and Misha will miss him very much. His family would like to thank the staff at Concordia Hospital Oncology Unit for their care and especially the nurses and aides on N3 who took such excellent care of him during his last days. A memorial service will take place at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Robert's memory can be made to CancerCare Manitoba, Concordia Hospital, a dog rescue organization or charity of your choice.
