MARY STEFKOVIC It is with sorrow the family announces the peaceful passing of our mother, Babka and Great Babka, Mary Stefkovic, at Kin Place Personal Care Home on March 14, 2009 at the age of 95. Mary was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Imrich, son Emil, sister Verna, mother and father Anna and Adam Bajzik and grandson-in-law Maynard Bell. Mary will be lovingly remembered by her son John (Victoire), granddaughters, Gladys (Maynard Bell), Grace (Doug Bazinet), Phyllis (Garth Cook), grandchildren, Danielle and Bradley Bazinet, Amanda and Kelly Cook and sister Anne Polakovic. Mary was born in Podharadie, Slovakia and immigrated to Canada with her husband, sons and extended family in 1937. Mary and her family overcame hardships to create a very successful dairy farm. She was devoted to her faith and grew award winning flowers not only for herself and Mary's family but brought at least one bouquet of flowers to church every Sunday. Mary enjoyed gardening and shared the bounty of her garden with many families and friends. She excelled at sewing and created many different articles her family still enjoy. She also enjoyed baking and cooking including ethnic foods. Pallbearers will be Garth Cook, Doug Bazinet, Bradley Bazinet, Nick Krasnanski, Steve Futros and John Mravinec. Prayers will be held at Green Acres Funeral Home, Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. A celebration of Mary's life will be held at our Lady of Hope in Anola on March 19, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. The family thanks the wonderful and caring staff at Kin Place that have taken care of our mother and Babka and made it feel like home to her.
