HANS JP BARTHEL February 23, 1931 - March 16, 2009 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Hans Barthel on March 16, 2009 at the age of 78 years. Hans was predeceased by his two sons, Paul and Hans Jr., brother Wolf Dieter, parents Paul and Gertrude Barthel, mother and father-in-law Paula and John Vandermeer, and sister-in-law Ilse Vandermeer. Hans will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 57 years, Ingeborg, daughter-in-law Paulette, grandson Reece (Correna), grandson Conrad (Eryn), and sister-in-law Sigrid. Hans was born in Breslau, Germany. He moved to Canada in 1951. He worked for San Antonio Goldmines in Bissett, Manitoba from 1951 to 1964. Hans and Ingeborg moved to Winnipeg in 1964. He worked at Health Sciences Centre until he retired in 1989. Respecting Hans' wishes there will be no formal service. Friends and Family are welcome to share refreshments in the reception centre of Wheeler Funeral Chapel, 211 Regent Avenue West on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Hans' name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
