EUNICE HOBDAY 1931 - 2009 Eunice had been ill since the beginning of July. She was a patient at Health Sciences Centre and was transferred to a personal care home in October. She passed away on Friday morning, February 27, 2009. She was predeceased by her mother and father, Phyllis and Reg Hobday; sister Mrs. Shirley Dawson; nephews, Reg and John David Dawson; and brothers-in-law, Earl McKellar and Bob Dawson; cousins, Dorothy and Norman Stewart, Jim and Ernest Dartnell and Clifford Bagnall. Eunice was a secretary at Investors Syndicate, Winnipeg, for a few years. She moved to San Francisco, CA and for a number of years was secretary and assistant to the vice-president of the Foremost Corporation. She returned to Winnipeg in 1978 and lived in Osborne Village. Over the years she enjoyed the care and company of her toy black poodles, Louie, Sasha and Bear. She leaves to mourn her loss, sister Mrs. Lois McKellar; and nephews, Phillip Dawson and Malcolm McKellar; niece-in-law Barbara McKellar; and nieces, Eunice-Jean Harris and Mrs. Phyllis Brewer; nephews-in-law, Wade Harris and Everett Brewer; great-nephews, Pearce McKellar and Clark Harris; great-nieces, Taylore Harris, Rayna McKellar, Sierra, Alexandria and Grace-Hope Brewer; her cousins, Joan Glowicki, Dr. Bert Dartnell and Reg Dartnell, Muriel, David and Barbara Bagnall, Alan and Earl Ritchie, Lenore Parker, Marian McCarthy, Bob Bagnall, Jim and Wesley Hull and Doris Mae Tibbs, as well as Mrs. Dean Koeford of San Carlos, CA, with whom Eunice had a long warm friendship for over 50 years, they were always in touch with one another, also good friend, Joan Shelmerdine. On behalf of Eunice, many thanks Dean. Also, thanks to her school friends for their kindness at the time of their reunion and to Jackie, the nurses and staff at Health Sciences Centre and the Golden Door Geriatric Centre. At Eunice's request, a private funeral service took place on March 6 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home and was officiated by Hal Parker, Alan Ritchie and Jim Hull. Pallbearers were Malcolm McKellar, Pearce McKellar, Ron Parker, Bill Tibbs, Brendan Clark and Bruce Hull. Following the service Don McCarthy gave thanks for dinner at The Assiniboine Gordon Inn on the Park. Donations are being made in Eunice's memory to M.S.C Canada, 101 Amber St., Stn 16, Markham, ON L3R 3B2 (This gift will be given to Loloma Mission Hospital, Zambia, Africa), and First Steps, Susan Ritchie - Director, 3260 West 5th Ave., Vancouver, BC V6K 1V4 (for the prevention of infant malnutrition in North Korea), as well as The Canadian Red Cross, The Union Gospel Mission and The Salvation Army.
