ANNE MAY MARCHANT (HAMM) August 21, 1915 March 15, 2009 With great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Anne Marchant on Sunday, March 15, 2009 at Betel Home in Selkirk. Anne is survived by her daughters, Joan Anderson of Brandon and Lois Mullen of Winnipeg, and her son Gerald (Irene) Hamm of Selkirk. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Kathy (Dave) Barber, Mike Anderson of Minneapolis, MN, Barb (Ben) Anderson of Fergus Falls, MN, Christine (Darin) Josephsen of Fargo, ND, Kimberly (Ralph) De La Torre of Half Moon Bay, CA, Jason (Margaret) Hamm, Chris (Magda) Hamm, David (Tara) Hamm; and step-grandchildren, Pat (Myron) Paxton of Surprise, AZ, Tony Mullen Jr., Sean (Kim) Mullen, Peter Mullen, and Kevin (Paula) Mullen, all from Denver, CO and her great-grandchildren, Will and Steven Barber, Jack Josephsen, Patrick Smith, Kayleigh Silva, Katie Hamm and step-grandchildren, Joey Mullen, Mike, Molly, and Madeleine Mullen, Adam and Mitchell Mullen and Briana Mullen. Anne is also survived by her sister-in-law Ileen Earle of Treherne, and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband Ben Hamm and second husband Laurie Marchant; her son-in-law Tony Mullen; her parents, Clarence and Myrtle Earle, her sister Mabel Jones; brother-in-law Eugene Jones, and her brother Bill Earle. Anne was born in Turtleford, SK and moved with her family to Treherne, MB where they farmed for several years until purchasing a restaurant in Treherne. Anne ran the Bluebird Cafe in Treherne until moving to Winnipeg where she worked for Telephone Answering Service for 25 years, retiring in 1977. Anne married Laurie Marchant in 1969 and resided in St. Boniface until moving to the Lions Centre in Selkirk in 2000. Anne loved all animals especially her dogs and enjoyed helping Laurie with his race horses. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, reading and watching sports on TV. One of her favourite places was the cabin her and Laurie built at Bird Lake where they loved to fish and pick blueberries. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Treherne United Church in Treherne, MB. The family would like to thank the staff at Betel Home for the excellent loving care and concern provided to Anne during her years there.
