MIJO (MICHAEL / MIKE) CEPANEC Mijo Cepanec of Winnipeg, aged 66, passed away suddenly on March 17, 2009. Born in what is now Croatia on October 20, 1942, he was raised in the small town of Tomasevec, where as a boy he liked to play soccer and spend time with his friends getting into mischief. Mijo left Croatia as a young man in search of opportunity, first in Austria, then in Australia before following the love of his life, Marija (whom he had met in Austria) to Winnipeg where he finally settled down. Mijo had a strong work ethic and was very well respected at each of the flexible packaging companies where he worked. Mechanically inclined, he quickly distinguished himself as a gifted and skilled machine operator until his retirement in 2008. Left to cherish his memory are, his mother Vilma; his beloved wife Marija; daughters, Susan (David), Diane (Ken); and son Darren (Dana); and precious granddaughters, Bryarre and Geneva. He is also survived by his brothers, Joza, Stjepan; sister Maria and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Franjo; sisters, Nadica, Dragica; and brother Dragic. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2009 at the Croatian Catholic Church St. Nicholas Tavelic, 2688 Main St. with Rev. Fr. Robert Polz officiating. Interment will follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. For those so desiring, donations may be made either to the Croatian Catholic Church St. Nicholas Tavelic or to CancerCare Manitoba. Uvijek cemo voliti i sjecati na nas Tata i Deda. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
