ANGELA VIRGINIE MARIE MOQUIN (POIRIER)
Born: Apr 22, 1923
Date of Passing: Mar 14, 2009
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANGELA VIRGINIE MARIE MOQUIN (nee POIRIER) Peacefully at Taché Nursing Centre, on Saturday, March 14, 2009, Angèla Moquin (née Poirier) passed away at the age of 85 years. Angèla, the second child of Arthur and Angeline Poirier (nee Rousseau), was born on April 22, 1923 and was baptized in Our Lady of the Assumption Parish in Mariapolis, Manitoba. Angèla left Mariapolis in the early 1950s to work at St. Boniface Hospital where she met her future husband Isidore. On October 30, 1954 they were married in the Précieux Sang parish by the hospital Chaplin, Father Walter Szumski. Angèla and Isidore moved to his home town of St. Joseph where they lived until 1970, and then moved to St. Boniface. In April 1997 her husband Isidore passed away after 42 years of marriage. Grounded in faith of God's Providence they raised eight children. As with all families there are moments of great joy and happiness, and moments of challenges, struggles and sorrow. The one constant in mom's life was prayer and faith in the Eternal Father, the self giving sacrifice of his Son, and the gentle guidance of the Holy Spirit, the seven life giving sacraments for the journey to our eternal home. When mom felt she had to petition matters before the High Court, she would first discuss these matters with her Advocate, the Blessed Virgin Mary. The court briefs were articulated on Rosary Beads. As one of our sisters said the day following her passing, mom once showed me two Rosaries. I recite this one for my children in general, and this one for you. We were not privileged to hear her petitions; all we knew was that mom's prayers were always answered in one way or another. Merci Jesus, Merci Vierge Marie, Merci Maman. So it was consoling that at the time of her passing, overlooking her bed stood a statue of Our Lady, her Advocate, and surrounded by the love of her treasures who are: Michel (deceased 1963); Daniel (Lynn Lalonde); grandchildren Robert and Natalie (Ryland O'Neill); and great grandchild Sophie; Gisèle (Richard Janusz) grandchildren Sylvie, Justin, Colin, Daniel, Joël (Rachelle Ayotte) and great-grandchildren Amélie and Luka; Paulette (Wade Bodnar) grandchildren Shaun and Wesley; Eugène; Noëlla (Glenn Kolt) grandchildren David and Benoît; Juliette (Brent Parachoniak) grandchildren Austin, Brodie, Carissa; Louise (Gord Hawley) grandchildren Patrick and James. In addition to her children, Angèla leaves to mourn her eldest sister Fabienne (Abel Robidoux deceased) and the family of her deceased brother Albert (Irène Morin), the family of her deceased sister Gabrielle (Armand Dupuis deceased), and the families of 12 brothers and sisters-in-law from the Moquin and Paradis families. Angèla was also predeceased by her brother Father Eugène Poirier SJ who passed away in 2003. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Grey Nuns, the Physicians and Nursing staff on the 2nd floor of Taché Nursing Centre including all associated volunteers, relatives and friends who shared their time with her at the centre. The family is in gratitude to Father Piché o.m.i., members of Taché Nursing Centre Chaplaincy services, Father Morand, Father Thibault, and Monseigneur Goulet p.s.s. Prayers will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2009 (feast of St. Joseph) at St. Vital Roman Catholic Parish, 1629 Pembina Hwy. following the scheduled 7:00 p.m. Mass. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated by Father Patrick Morand on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 11:00 a.m., also at the Parish. Liturgy of the Word will be celebrated by Father Lionel Thibault at the Parish Church of St. Joseph, Manitoba at 3:00 p.m.; followed by the interment at the local Parish Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Taché Nursing Centre, 185 Despins Street, Winnipeg, MB R2H 2B3, founded by the Grey Nuns of Mother d'Youville would be appreciated. Sacred Heart of Jesus, we place our trust in thee. Ave Maris Stella, pray for all Mothers and for us sinners. St. Joseph, pray for us.
