DOUGLAS (DOUG) WALTER WELLING On March 17, 2009 Douglas Walter Welling passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 88 years. Remaining to forever cherish Doug's memory are his wife of 65 years Esther and his six children, Tony (Debbie), Rosemary (John), Margaret (Norman), Valerie, Heather (Dave) and Brian (Helen); numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and two sisters. Dad was proud that he served in the Second World War in the Army as a dispatch rider. He worked at the Manitoba Liquor Commission as Assistant Manager and has enjoyed his 30 years of retirement at his farm in Anola. Dad loved fishing, playing bingo and spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Doug's funeral service will be held on Saturday March 21, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Memories in Wojcik's Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main Street at Manitoba Avenue. A big thank you to St. Boniface Hospital staff, home care workers and nurses for their compassionate care for Dad. A special big thank you to you Don.
