LORNA JEAN ALEXANDER (nee PRUDEN) It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Lorna Alexander on Wednesday, March 18, 2009. Born on April 23, 1933 in Selkirk, Manitoba, Lorna was the eldest of six children to parents, Violet and Stewart Pruden. Lorna spent her early childhood living along Wavey Creek. At the age of 19 Lorna moved into Winnipeg to work at Eaton's. It was in Winnipeg that Lorna met the love of her life Jack Alexander. They were married on July 28, 1951 (57 years). As the years passed their family grew with sons, Cam (Nancy), Gary (Cindy), Bruce (Shelley), Ed, and daughter Cheryl Alexander. In the early years of their marriage Lorna and Jack moved around a lot but as the children grew it was important to bring their family back to Wavey Creek. Lorna's world was her grandchildren, Neil, Ian, Terry, Meagan, Heather, Jordan, Jocelyn, Randi, Dakota, and Mariah. Mom and Dad were successful in several businesses spanning many years, but her most cherished times were Sunday Morning Breakfasts with family, after church. Some of Lorna's closest friends were her sisters Shirley McCumber (Harold), Doreen Chrin, Beverly Lesnick (Stan) and Joan Wilkinson (Murray) along with all their families. Lorna was predeceased by her parents, Stewart and Violet Pruden; son Jim; brothers, Roy and Stewart Pruden; brothers-in-law, Mickey McManus, Eugene Danyleyko, Peter Chrin; sister-in-law Anne Pruden; and nephew Joey McManus. Viewing and family visitation will be on Sunday, March 22, 2009 at Gilbart's Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and a Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. also at Gilbart's Funeral Home with Rev. Brad Elliott officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6 Until we meet again. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
