WILLIAM ALLAN PICKARD With profound sadness the family announces the sudden death of William Allan Pickard on Tuesday, March 10, 2009. Allan was predeceased by both his parents, Maurice and Joan Pickard of Swindon Hall Farm in North Yorkshire, England. He is remembered with great love by his wife, Allanna, daughters, Amy and Avril, and grandson Connor; brothers and sisters John, Anthony, Norma (Albert) Robinson, Michael, David, Hazel (Peter) Middleton, Christopher, Colin, Keith and many cousins, nieces and nephews, as well as aunts and uncles in England and Canada. Allan was born January 16, 1952 at the family farm of Swindon Hall, near Kirkby Overblow, North Yorkshire, England. He completed his apprenticeship in plumbing and heating with T. Boddy and Sons in Harrogate, England. He was an avid motorbike sidecar racer during his spare time, and raced with his sidecar partner Peter Towers for several years before leaving the United Kingdom. Allan immigrated to Canada at the age of 24 years in December 1976 and was married to Allanna on September 24, 1977. He began work in Winnipeg as a journeyman in plumbing and heating with Furnasman, later at Four Seasons and finally with the Winnipeg School Division where he worked for 25 years before retiring in January 2007. Allan's family would like to thank the staff and owners of Garson Grocery for their care and concern, and the Beausejour RCMP for their help in dealing with this stressful and sad event. Memorial service will be held at Glen Lawn Funeral Home chapel, March 23, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. followed by interment at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens.
