CASSIE (MCINTYRE) HULL
Born: Oct 26, 1914
Date of Passing: Mar 20, 2009
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCASSIE (MCINTYRE) HULL October 26, 1914 - March 20, 2009 We are sad to announce Cassie's passing at Riverview this past Friday. Predeceased by her parents, Murdoch and Adelaide McIntyre, 12 siblings and her husband Ken Hull. Cassie is survived by her son Bruce (Katie); daughter Catherine Gillespie (Michael); and her grandchildren, Jeremy Gillespie and Meredith and Mark Hull (Jaclyn). Cassie was born on the family farm in Birnie, MB, the third youngest of 13 children. Cassie married Kenneth Hull of Kenora in 1936 and lived there until 1949. Ken and Cassie moved to Winnipeg with Catherine, living briefly on Sherbrook Street, and then moving to their brand new home in Fort Garry following the birth of Bruce. Riley Cresent became Grand Central Station for over 50 years as Cassie willingly provided food and shelter for many, many nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends over the years in their time of need or while going to school. When her own children grew, Cassie became a seamstress with Perths. Although it was too late in life to reach her goal of being a nurse, Cassie became a nurse's aide at the Conquist Nursing Home in the late 1970s, again caring for others, work she loved. After Ken passed away (after 60 years of marriage), Cassie remained at Riley Crescent until 2001 when she moved first to Rosewood and later to Riverview. Cassie's grandchildren were the focus of her life. Her baking made her famous and popular amongst her family, friends and neighbours! After 94 and a half years, Cassie felt her job was done and she chose to go home . Her passing was quiet, dignified and without pain. She was the last McIntyre of her generation. The family would like to thank the wonderful and caring staffs of Rosewood and Riverview. We know Cassie could not have had more loving care. An informal tea in Cassie's memory will be held in the Thomas Sill Auditorium at Riverview (1 Morley) on Monday, March 23, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Cassie may be directed to: Riverview Health Centre Foundation One Morley Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3L 2P4
