IRIS VESTA ZIMMER 1916 - 2009 Peacefully on March 21, 2009, Iris passed away at St. Boniface Hospital. Mum will be missed by her sons, Brian (Leone), Bill (Marlene), Bruce (Wendy); grandchildren, David (Jennifer), Scott, Mandy (Berkley), Cory; great-grandchildren, Ava, Liv and Cole; brother Allen (Wanda) Rutherford; sisters, June (Gordon) King, Marion Reynolds, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Jack on November 9, 2000. Iris was born on April 11, 1916 in Winnipeg. She met Jack at the local roller skating rink and they were married in October 1939. After raising their three boys, Iris worked at Eaton's for over 20 years. The family enjoyed many years of camping, especially the later years spent at Clearwater Bay, Ontario. Their home was always welcome to family and friends. Square dancing was part of their life. Mum's personal interests were baking, nurturing African violets, playing bingo and her great-grandchildren. The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at St. Boniface Hospital 5B especially Tessie for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Heart Stroke Foundation, 200 - 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3L 0K6, Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB, R3T 0R3, or a charity of your choice. A funeral service will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave, on Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. with a reception to follow. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
